Brass is a popular metal used in making wholesale fashion rings and other types of jewelry. It boasts a beautiful sheen and gives off old-world vibes that vintage-loving customers are looking for. However, as with any metal, brass' luster fades after prolonged wear. The same is the case with brass jewelry sitting in the inventory for too long.

If your brass jewelry collection needs some cleaning, here are a few brass cleaning and care tips using items at home:

Clean brass jewelry with a soap and water solution

Cleaning with this classic solution is the most accessible and simplest. Just add a few drops of mild liquid dishwashing soap in a bowl of warm water. Rub the brass jewelry using a soft-bristled toothbrush while submerged in the bowl. Rinse in running tap water once done, and dry with a lint-free towel.

Clean brass jewelry with toothpaste

Classic non-gel white toothpaste is known to clean sterling silver jewelry and is also effective with brass jewelry. Put a pea-sized amount of white toothpaste onto a soft-bristled toothbrush and gently scrub the surface of your brass piece. Once done, rinse in running tap water and pat dry using a microfiber cloth.

Clean brass jewelry with salt and vinegar

If your brass jewelry has tarnish, salt and vinegar solution is the way to go. Just mix a teaspoon of salt with a half cup of vinegar in a small microwaveable bowl, then heat in the microwave. Once warm, submerge your brass jewelry pieces into the mixture for a few minutes. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, rub the dirt and tarnish away. Rinse with running tap water, then dry with a lint-free microfiber cloth.

Clean brass jewelry with tomato ketchup

Ketchup is another household item effective in removing tarnish. All you have to do is apply the condiment all over the brass piece, especially in the nooks and crannies. Gently rub with a soft-bristled toothbrush until the tarnish and grime have come off. Rinse with tap running water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

Clean brass jewelry with baking soda and vinegar

A baking soda and vinegar solution is another excellent solution for removing tarnish. Simply mix the two to create a smooth paste, then cover the entire brass jewelry piece with it. Leave on the paste for about 30 minutes, then rinse with running tap water. Use a clean, lint-free cloth for patting dry.

Clean brass jewelry with salt and lemon juice

In a bowl of water, squeeze half a lemon and add a teaspoon of salt. Fully submerge the brass jewelry piece in the mixture and wait until all the grime has come off the jewelry's surface. Once the surface is clean, wash under running tap water and dry with a microfiber towel.
